Canada-focused oil and gas producer, Calima Energy has commenced drilling a two well horizontal glauconitic or “GLCC” drilling campaign at its Brooks project in Alberta. The GLCC wells are expected to deliver between 170,000 and 400,000 barrels of oil equivalent over its expected life, with production earmarked for early next year. According to Calima, its GLCC assets will pump out an average oil production rate of up to 400 barrels of oil equivalent per day over the first 90 days.

The wells will be sunk with the intention of penetrating the existing GLCC oil pools beneath the company’s Alberta ground. Calima says previous work in the area coupled with 3D seismic has the GLCC target zone sitting at a true vertical depth of around 985 meters.
