The trailer for the next instalment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s blockbuster superhero films has dropped—and the cast list is crazy.

Eternals welcomes a new team of super heroes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and stars Richard Madden (Bodyguard), Gemma Chan (Crazy Rich Asians) and Kumail Nanjiani (Silicon Valley) — as well as other big names like Salma Hayek, Angelina Jolie and Game of Thrones heartthrob Kit Harington.

After picking up the Best Director award at last month’s Oscars for her film Nomadland, Chloe Zhao’s next project has fans eagerly awaiting its release later this year.

The epic story, spanning thousands of years, is set after the devastating events of Avengers: Endgame (2019) and features a group of immortal heroes forced out of the shadows to reunite against mankind’s oldest enemy, The Deviants.

The two-minute long trailer, which is currently trending as the most-watched video on YouTube, begins with a spaceship hovering above a cliff-side settlement where humans are living thousands of years ago.

“It’s beautiful isn’t it?” asks Sersi (Chan), to the group’s leader Ikaris (Madden), before it cuts to footage of Ajak (Hayek) and Thena (Jolie) — each donning out-of-this-world superhero outfits and showing off some superhuman skills.

“We have watched unguided and helped them progress and seen them accomplish wonders... throughout the years we have never interfered... until now,” Ajak reveals in a voice-over.

The heroes each possess different powers, including flying, superhuman strength and super-speed.

While not much is revealed about the plot, the trailer travels through time and shows the heroes popping up through different periods, including in the ancient city of Babylon and in modern day London.

And, of course, it wouldn’t be a blockbuster superhero movie without some villains popping up, with a volcano erupting and thunderstorm brewing signalling the team of heroes are likely to be thrown a few curve balls.

Introduced by Marvel Comics in 1976, the Eternals are a race of immortal humanoids, who have been living alongside humans for thousands of years.

The movie will also present the first deaf superhero in the MCU (Makkari, played by Lauren Ridloff) and the first gay superhero (Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos).
