Artrage launches inaugural Northbridge winter arts festival RE//PERTH

Artrage chief executive Jo Thomas believes there is no reason to hibernate this July, keeping the seasonal flame alive with inaugural winter arts festival RE//PERTH. The producing team behind Fringe World Festival and Rooftop Movies has collaborated with the WA Government on the newly launched urban arts festival, featuring more than 50 free and ticketed Northbridge events spanning family-friendly to adults-only programming across arts, gaming, fashion, food and wine from July 4 to 14. Headline production The Mirror, by Adelaide-based circus company Gravity and Other Myths, will enjoy an extended season at L’Euro Grande until July 27, thanks to a reputation for sold out shows wherever it tours. “RE//PERTH is a celebration of creativity and community, and we are excited to bring Perth’s newest urban arts festival to life just in time for the school holidays,” Thomas said. “The program is bursting with an incredible array of shows to awaken the winter spirit in everyone, along with a wonderful smorgasbord of free family shows and treats to give the kids something extra special to experience over the July break.” Offerings for children include a Flurry Fete, live ice sculpting, Mini Mosher Sound System disco, Winter Wonderland, baking activities and music concert Play Date, which Thomas said celebrated rainbow-coloured families and embraced being unique. “I think when we’re having problems with bullying and people not accepting individuals, this is a great little activity with singing and dancing, where we’re all told that you can just be yourself,” she added. “What’s so lovely about this festival is that you can literally walk from one RE//PERTH space to another and immerse yourself in an array of such diverse experiences, from the breathtaking Unfurling of the Cosmos six storeys up in the air at Rooftop, to the playfully whimsical free family Winter Wonderland, to our hero act, multi award-winning The Mirror by Gravity and Other Myths.” Thomas said the festival paired diversity with inclusivity within the disused spaces of Northbridge, lighting up our urban environment which were often overlooked during the colder winter months. “RE//Perth is all about re//birth, re//imagination and telling hidden stories in hidden spaces,” she said. “Come join the RE// revolution.” RE//PERTH program and tickets at reperth.com.
