Thousands of young Aussies have flooded this weekend’s Laneway Festival events and revelled in “revealing” summer fashion, with breezy tank tops, bikini tops, short pants and open midriffs the dominant themes of the day.

The mercury soared to 29C at Bonython Park in the Adelaide’s centre on Friday and the crowd of youngsters, full of smiles and high on friendship, enjoyed an incredible line-up of musical talent that included Stormzy and Dominic Fike.

Cheyanne Howard, Nevaeh Luke and Piper Monfries captured the theme of the day, with the happy ladies decked out in bikini tops and short pants matched with sport shoes and boots.

Cheyanne sported a see-through white dress over her blue-and-white bikini and all three ladies wore a pair of cool sunnies on their heads.

Eowyn Hannan, Maayan Whittaker and Alex Wallace, meanwhile, showed off the exposed midriff theme, with all three decked out in light, breezy tops cut above the bellybutton, short jeans and then shoes.

Alex sported long black boots to give more of a cowgirl look.

Short pants, either shorts or cut-off jeans, also dominated among the men.

Some of the men, however, were not as tightly configured and showed off a “daggy” look of loose long pants and daggy shirts.

Zany fashion choices also permeated the scene.

A couple of lads were seen in matching “skeleton” suits along with charmingly bizarre sunnies and hats.

A distinct ‘hippie’ aesthetic was also present, a reflection of the freedom that a music concert in summer delivers.

Some festival-goers presented a playful fashion sense, with a trio spotted together presenting a wonderful contrast in styles.

One wears all black, the man in the middle wears an open Hawaiian-esque shirt and the other sports a bright pink cap and pink skirt.

It was a hot day in Adelaide Friday but it did not hit the levels of Sydney Laneway outing, which saw temperatures reach into the mid-30s at Olympic Park.

Maya Castronini, Zara Parletta and Marietta Lalidis held big blue handheld fans to beat back the heat.

In addition to keeping cool, the fans looked splendid as elegant accessories.

On Saturday, thousands more turned out at The Park in Flemington as Melbourne delivered a warn and sunny day for the festivities.

Keeping cool was again a priority for attendees, with the Melburnians ever anxious for a chance to soak up the sun.

The iconic festival saw a return of past headliners and new acts, featuring big names like Stormzy, Steve Lacy, Dominic Fike, Faye Webster, and Cordae.

But police were out in force at Flemington, perhaps cautious to avoid a repeat of the Hardmission Festival earlier this year, where many revellers overdosed.

Nine were hospitalised after MDMA pills and the heat proved to be a dangerous combination.
