Albany’s Elijah Medling finished on the podium for two events at the final round of the WA Bodyboard Titles held at Claytons Beach in Mindarie at the weekend.

WA’s first champions of the year were crowned at the event, which attracted some of the State’s most experienced riders as they went head-to-head with the new generation of bodyboarders, on wedging 2-3ft waves at Claytons.

Medling fell narrowly short in the under-18 junior boys’ final against Margaret River’s Max McGregor.

Only 0.24 points separated the pair when the final siren sounded after McGregor used great wave selection to finish on a two-wave combined total of 12.97 out of a possible 20.
