The Albany Eight Ball Association concluded its 2026 winter pool competition with a presentation and winter singles tournament at the Stirling Club on Saturday.

The presentation recognised the leading teams and individual players from the winter season.

The Stickmen finished first on the competition ladder, followed by Stirling Range in second and the Stooges in third.

In individual awards, Jason Owens was named pool master for the season, while Jayde Mills finished as the handicap points leader.

The singles champions were Leigh Hills in A-grade, Andy Barker in B-grade and Dallas Durrant in C-grade.

Damian Mackay and Ron Ocumen were named mixed doubles champions, while Andy Barnett was recognised as the season’s leading master breaker.

Albany association member Barnett is the No. 1 ranked player in Australia.

He is due to travel to Morocco to represent Australia at the International Eight Ball World Championships in Marrakesh from September 17-27.

Ken Carter won the tournament which followed the presentations, defeating Wayne Gladish 4–1 in the grand final.

Gladish, who has only recently taken up competitive pool, progressed through the field and reached the showpiece against A-grade opposition.

The association will now move into its summer pool competitions.

The next major event is the Golden Eight Ball tournament on September 5, an open competition featuring the association’s biggest prize fund of the year.
