The Great Southern is full of selfless community members who are the lifeblood of their local football leagues.

In an ongoing series, the WA Football Commission and The Extra are recognising their efforts.

Here is the latest volunteer of the week.

Sharon McLean started volunteering in the Albany Sharks canteen about a decade ago.

Since then she has served on the committee and taken on the role of canteen manager.

For the past few years, Ms McLean has also taken on Thursday Night Meals, where after training the whole club share a meal together which at times takes days to prepare.

Ms McLean spoils those with dietary requirements and many of the boys take home an extra plate or two at the end of the night.

She is a much-loved club stalwart and like most volunteers came to the Sharks when her sons started playing football.

Ms McLean has been a constant support to her boys and everyone else at the Sharks.

She is always ready to help when required and her support has never wavered even during times when the club has had limited success.

Thank you to Tracy Blaszkow for nominating Sharon and recognising the great work that she does.
