A 28-year-old man has been charged with murder after a three-month-old baby boy died from significant internal injuries in a Brisbane hospital.
Queensland Police launched an investigation after the baby was taken to Ipswich Hospital with serious injuries on October 1.
Police said the child had suffered “significant internal injuries” and was later transferred to Queensland Children’s Hospital in Brisbane.
He remained in intensive care for five days before dying from his injuries on Tuesday afternoon.
Detectives from the Ipswich Child Protection Investigation Unit, assisted by the Child Trauma Unit, arrested a 28-year-old man at an Ipswich address on Tuesday night.
Police allege the man was known to the baby.
He has since been charged with one count of domestic violence murder and is due to appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
Police said investigations into the baby’s death remain ongoing.
