In a thrilling showdown in round two of the Malcolm Douglas Cup, the Chicken Treat Kickers emerged victorious against Broome FC with a commanding 11-6 win.

Last Wednesday’s match showcased a battle of resilience and skill, with both teams putting up a fierce fight.

The game began with a hotly contested first half, with the Chicken Treat Kickers holding a narrow 4-3 lead over Broome FC heading into the break.

Markus Beuke, the goalkeeper for the Kickers, displayed exceptional performance between the sticks, frustrating the home side with a series of remarkable saves.

In the second half, the Chicken Treat Kickers heeded the advice of playmaker Ben Connealy, extending their lead over Broome FC thanks to some strong midfield play from Connealy and Patrick Van Praet.

Van Praet emerged as a standout player for the Kickers, earning the plucky MVP title for his impressive individual runs and precise finishes.

The scoring for the Chicken Treat Kickers was led by Luca Scriva with 5 goals, followed by Patrick Van Praet with 4 goals, Ben Connealy and Gregg JJ Murray each contributing 1 goal.

On the other side, Broome FC managed to find the back of the net through efforts from Shomari Raghuwan (4 goals), Nial McCarthy (1 goal), and Jack Schyman (1 goal).

In another matchup of the day, Gerri Hatricks demonstrated their experience and prowess with a solid 10-5 victory over Maddogs FC.

Luke “The Stallion” Scanlon showcased his scoring prowess with a powerful goal, while David Aristei’s exceptional work rate earned him the MVP title.

Despite suffering their second defeat, Maddogs FC fought valiantly, with Sav Scriva standing out as their MVP.

The scoring distribution for Gerri Hatricks included Craig Olejnik, Sijo N Mathew, Ryan Mitchell, Luke Scanlon, David Aristei, Matt Maguire, and Antony Boskwony, each contributing goals.

Meanwhile, Owen Douglas and Sav Scriva led the scoring for Maddogs FC with 2 goals each, followed by Amaury Lecouffe with 1 goal.

With this victory, Chicken Treat Kickers soar to the top of the league table as the only undefeated team, while Broome FC sits in second place, closely followed by Gerri Hatricks.

Maddogs FC, after suffering defeats in both week 1 and week 2, currently holds the fourth position in the standings.
