Mp Boys claim premiership after defeating Kings in down to the wire Grand Final game
It was a thrilling Broome Basketball Association Grand Final on Wednesday night, with a crowd gathering at the Broome Recreation and Aquatic Centre to watch the Mp Boys and the Kings go head to head and see which one would take home the premiership.
It was a ferocious battle on the court with blood being spilled in the final minutes of the game with one player suffering from a bloodied nose.
But after the blood had been mopped up, the game continued on with the Mp Boys down with only a few minutes left of the game.
The Mp Boys then pulled out all the stops, making several remarkably quick scores to secure the win by just one point in the final seconds of the match, 33 to 32.
The most valuable player for the match was Kings player Taj Pirrottin, closely followed by runner-up most valuable player Mp Boy CJ Oakley.
The Greg Lawford Award was awarded to Clinton Manardo from the Roey Misfits for making an impressive 21 three-pointers over the 2022 season.
The Mp Boys tallied 11 wins in 2022, chalking up just one defeat over the course of the season, making them the top ladder spot holders for most of the competition.
The Kings were the next best in the competition over the season, chalking up eight wins and four losses.
Cool Running was the bottom ladder rung holder this year, suffering 10 losses and tallying just one win over the course of the 2022 season.
