Adventure in the South West has seen athletes quick to snatch up a challenging experience with entries for the Trans Cape SwimRun sold out within 48 hours.

The endurance race has existed for just two years but has become highly sought after for its transition-free and nature-based format.

The course spans between the Cape Naturaliste lighthouse and the Dunsborough Bay Yacht Club with a 22km run and a 4.5km swim.

A spokesperson for the event said SwimRun was unique and a great experience for all athletes.

“Competitors have to run and swim in whatever gear they start the event in. This means swimming in shoes and running with goggles and swim cap is part of the challenge,” the spokesperson said.

Dunsborough’s Jess Reynolds took part in the 2020 event and was one of the first in line to secure a registration for 2021.

“I couldn’t be more excited about getting involved again next year,” she said.

Trans Cape SwimRun will take place on March 6 and entrants will navigate running trails, beaches and rocky headlands.
