Dunsborough NAB customers used to face-to-face banking will have a narrower timeframe to meet with bank staff, with the company moving to a mostly online banking service.

Customers will have the option to bank digitally or by phone as the branch reduces its counter service to just three hours a day.

NAB last week revealed it would reduce hours at several of its regional branches.

The change comes as a decline in over-the-counter transactions has been noted.

NAB retail executive Krissie Jones said customers were coming into the branch less than previously and opting to use digital or phone banking as their main banking method.

“There will be no job losses as a result of these changes,” Ms Jones said.

“The bankers in these branches will maintain the same number of working hours each week, split between serving customers in the branch and through other channels.

“Customers can now deposit cheques through their mobile phone, have a home loan appointment through video conference, including in the evenings or on weekends, and access information through WhatsApp.”

Under the new model, NAB branches will open between 9.30am and 12.30pm for customers. Outside these hours, bankers will support them by phone or online chat.
