Cruise ships were again the centre of attention in WA yesterday when it emerged the Artania in Fremantle had 46 confirmed cases of COVID-19 on board.

It came on a day of drama as private hospitals were readied for passengers with twelve cruise-goers having already been evacuated due to medical emergencies.

Eleven of those have since tested positive to coronavirus.

Elsewhere debate raged about personal responsibility and social distancing. Popular Trigg cafe Yelo took to social media to say that it was going to close its doors on Sunday after a “horrible” day of trading yesterday.

Owner Mike Pond said the cafe had made numerous amendments to the premise to operate on a strictly take-away only basis and adhere to social distancing only for some patrons to ignore all advice.

“Today, some people just absolutely crossed the line between common sense behaviour and blatant, in our face defiance,” he wrote.

“Some of you put the blame back on us, like we should have to control you?”
