Coronavirus crisis: Star photographer Jarrad Seng adds ‘vow factor’ to stunning Perth isolation ‘wedding’

Call it love in the time of COVID-19. A Perth couple has got creative to mark their original wedding date, with the help of a star photographer. Rachel and Aria were set to marry at the weekend but had to cancel their plans due to the coronavirus-related ban on gatherings. However, renowned photographer Jarrad Seng still felt it important to celebrate the intended occasion. Observing social distancing, he shot a series of intimate portraits of the couple at home through their window. In a caption, Seng — who has photographed music acts such as Ed Sheeran and Passenger — explained why he was eager to commemorate the couple’s planned date. “In an alternate non-COVID universe, I was supposed to be flying home to Perth over the weekend to photograph Aria and Rachel’s big day,” he wrote. “Obviously in this reality, I was already home and there was no wedding any more. But I didn’t think that should stop us documenting this special day. So we celebrated anyway, in their living room. Socially distanced, creeping-through-the-window style. “Just because the wedding couldn’t go ahead, it doesn’t mean the plan never existed and the date wasn’t special. We’ll consider this the prologue to the main event ... coming ... some day.” Seng was on tour with musician Stu Larson when the crisis hit, forcing him back to Western Australia.
