LATEST COVID-19 DEVELOPMENTS:

* Prime Minister Scott Morrison is in no hurry to open Australia's borders with the pandemic still raging around the globe but does want to discuss future steps with state and territory leaders.

* National cabinet will hold its first twice-weekly gathering on Monday following the vaccine rollout being thrown into disarray with the recommendation AstraZeneca shots only be given to over 50s.

* Ahead of the meeting, Tasmanian Peter Gutwein says he's concerned about the delays and lack of communication regarding residents and staff at disability and aged care residential facilities.

* Investigations continue after a safety group convened by the Therapeutic Goods Administration concluded the death of NSW woman Genene Norris due to blood clots was likely to do with her vaccination on April 8.

* In the meantime, authorities will continuously review all vaccines in use.

* Former minister for science and technology Karen Andrews says it is "absolutely" possible Australia could manufacture an mRNA vaccine and work is already under way to try to make that happen.

* Victorians aged over 70 will be able to show up to a vaccine centre and get jabbed without an appointment from Wednesday, as the state prepares to scale up its rollout.

* The AstraZeneca shot will be available to those in groups 1a and 1b at the Royal Exhibition Building, the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre and the former Ford factory in Geelong.

* NSW authorities have confirmed three family members diagnosed with COVID-19 in Sydney hotel quarantine picked up the virus from fellow returned travellers.

* They were tipped off to the transmission after all seven people had the same sequence of the virus, despite arriving from different countries at different times.

* The three cases have now been reclassified as locally acquired.

AUSTRALIAN VACCINATION NUMBERS:

* There have been 1,496,608 doses administered in the national COVID-19 vaccination rollout up to Saturday, including 22,050 in the previous 24 hours.

* Of the total, 852,776 have been administered by the Commonwealth (an increase of 19,584 on the previous 24 hours).

* 680,425 have been delivered in primary care (+ 17,947) and 172,351 in aged and disability facilities (+ 1637).

* At least 643,832 have been administered by the states and territories, including at least 2466 in the previous 24 hours.

* NSW has vaccinated 173,852 people (+550), Victoria 162,553 (+445), Queensland at least 122,865 (Sunday report N/A), WA 76,082 (+224), South Australia 46,154 (+669), Tasmania 28,721 (+91), ACT 20,852 (+487) and Northern Territory at least 12,753 (Sunday report N/A).

AUSTRALIAN CORONAVIRUS NUMBERS:

* Australia reported three new locally-acquired virus cases on Sunday which were previously quarantine cases but reclassified by NSW. There were at least 14 overseas-acquired cases in quarantine: six in WA, six in NSW and two in Queensland.

* The national death toll is 910: Victoria 820, NSW 56, Tasmania 13, WA 9, Queensland 7, SA 4, ACT 3 (Two Queensland residents who died in NSW have been included in the official tolls of both states).

GLOBAL CORONAVIRUS NUMBERS:

* Cases: at least 140,448,459

* Deaths: at least 3,009,025

* Recovered: at least 80,043,779.
