Parents in Perth’s Western Suburbs are warned to be on high alert following reports of a suspicious man approaching a young child.

A man driving in a dark blue SUV approached a child as they played out the front of a Mosman Park property on Tuesday night, 9 NEWS reported on Wednesday.

It is understood the man, believed to be in his 50s, started talking to he child after he got out of his car on Meath Mews about 7pm.

The child’s mother startled the man, causing him to flee from the area.

Police are currently conducting patrols around the area.
