A man has been brutally stabbed in Perth’s southern suburbs, catching the eye of police driving past him as he stumbled down the street.

The man in his 30s was walking down Cockham Green in Wellard on Friday night bloodied and bruised with multiple stab wounds, prompting police who were patrolling the area to call for help.

Other officers and paramedics were called to the scene just after 7pm, rushing the man with serious injuries to Royal Perth Hospital where he was reported in a stable condition last night.

It is believed he walked nearly 2km from Parmelia to Wellard, leaving a trail of blood behind him.

Officers suspect the man was stabbed at a home in Parmelia before walking to the next suburb.
