A P-plater has been charged after allegedly leading police on a chase that lasted just two minutes in Perth’s south this morning.

Around 1.30, police attempted to stop a Holden Commodore that was travelling south-westerly on Royal Street however the driver allegedly failed to stop.

Police say the female driver accelerated away, allegedly speeding and ran red lights during the pursuit but was stopped two minutes later on Spencer Road.

It was previously understood the pursuit lasted 60 seconds.

The driver was taken into custody alongside a second person.

A 23-year-old woman has been charged with reckless driving to escape pursuit by police and failing to comply with a direction to stop.

She will appear in Armadale Magistrate’s Court on June 1.
