Two charged over Butler armed robbery which forced street into lockdown

VideoStreets closed in Butler for five hours as TRG searched houses for person reportedly armed with a gun.

Two men have been charged over an incident which forced a Butler street into lockdown on Saturday as armed TRG officers responded to reports of a person armed with a gun.

Police say the men entered a home on Redington Drive around 9.20am and threatened a woman in her 60s and man in his 30s with a firearm.

They allegedly discharged the firearm and stole property before fleeing.

Nearby streets were cordoned off for five hours as police officers went house to house to comb the area for the alleged offenders.

A 26-year-old Yanchep man and a 39-year-old Heathridge man have been charged with aggravated armed robbery and unlawful act or omission with intent to harm.

They are due to appear in the Perth Magistrates Court today.
