Woman bitten by snake at Karijini National Park flown to Perth hospital
A woman has been flown to hospital in Perth after a dramatic rescue operation at Karijini National Park in the State’s Pilbara region.
The woman in her 20s is reported to have been bitten by a snake at the isolated Fortescue falls — 14 hours north of Perth.
Authorities received a call for help just after 3.15 this afternoon.
The operation took several hours and DFES rescuers battled through national park lands to find the woman, who was stranded in very remote area.
The rescue was complicated due to the fact that there is limited to no phone service in the park.
The type of snake remains unknown. The woman is in a stable condition.
