A new chapter for secondary schooling in WA is under way, with the State Government approving plans for St Andrew’s Grammar’s long-anticipated city campus.

Education Minister Sabine Winton has signed off on the establishment of the new Year 7–12 school at 20 Parker Street, Northbridge, which is the current home of the Hellenic Community of WA.

The new campus aims to create a globally connected educational hub in the heart of Perth’s cultural district.

The decision marks a milestone for the Hellenic community, which has spent years advocating for a school that brings students closer to the city’s universities, transport links, arts institutions and business centres.

Hellenic Community of WA president Paul Afkos said the development would be a major win for Perth’s education landscape.

“The city campus is set to bring a range of positive outcomes for WA, including the revitalisation of the Perth CBD by the introduction of a contemporary secondary school into a precinct surrounded by universities, transport, culture and business.” he said.

Mr Afkos said the project would strengthen Perth’s reputation as an international education destination, as it would offer international families another high-quality schooling option in a central, “well-connected” location.

The proposal had been endorsed by the Non-Government Schools Planning Advisory Panel. The State Government’s approval allows the Hellenic Community to move into the next stage of planning and design.

Mr Afkos said the Minister’s decision demonstrated the strength and clarity of the vision behind the project.

“This determination is a major endorsement of our vision to create a vibrant, accessible educational hub in the heart of Perth,” he said.

“We thank the Minister and the advisory panel for their support and look forward to working with all stakeholders to deliver a campus that reflects excellence and community values.”

The approval is valid until February 1, 2030.

St Andrew’s Grammar has a campus in Dianella, which has just completed a $9 million science and technology hub project. The Dianella hub will be ready to be used by students in term 1 next year.
