GNFL round 15 preview: Towns host Brigades under lights in battle for third in game of the round

With the pointy end of the season rapidly approaching, the top four is well and truly locked in as round 15 of the GNFL features a battle between third-placed Towns and fourth-placed Brigades at Wonthella. Towns’ season got a second lease on life after a stunning win against the then-unbeaten Railways at home, in what was a shock that reverberated around the league. Zane Marwick has been a shining light in the midfield alongside Callum Marquis with the duo impressing throughout the season for the Bulldogs. Brigades, too, have a strong midfield cartel with the likes of Dylan Ralph, Reid Foot and ruck Hayden Johnson, which makes for an interesting battle out of the middle that could shape the context of the game. Towns’ forward line has been headlined by Jaylen Parsons who currently leads the league in goals with 38, eight goals ahead of third-placed Brigades forward Hassan Ahmat-Watkins. Brigades are coming off a 67-point win against Northampton where Ahmat-Watkins kicked three goals and Johnson two. Towns will be looking to hit the ground running after having the bye last round. The Dogs’ last game was a 28-point win against Northampton where Towns’ skipper Drew Forrester led the way with three goals alongside Parsons. The last time these two met it was Towns who prevailed by 30 points after exploding in the final term to run away with the win. This is a must-win for Towns if they are to stay in the top three and gain a gap on Brigades. The Bulldogs are currently one win ahead of the Hawks on the ladder. In saying that, this is a fairly even matchup and has real potential to be an arm-wrestle under the lights at WA Country Builders Stadium on Saturday.
