A kaleidoscope of colour, rhythm, culture and creativity will return to the Queens Park Theatre stage next weekend, with a multicultural concert showcasing the region’s incredible diversity.

The concert, hosted by the Midwest Multicultural Association on Saturday, July 25, is a 90-minute celebration of what makes the Mid West so welcoming and connected.

Guests will have the chance to meet community members from Africa, Venezuela, Fiji, Indonesia and several Spanish-speaking countries before the performances begin.

“Every performance tells a story, every culture brings something unique, and together they will create a remarkable afternoon of entertainment and community spirit,” MMA chair Nidhi Kumari said.

MMA stage manager Janine Gerard added: “Audiences will experience a vibrant tapestry of global cultures shared through song, music and dance, featuring representation from Indonesia, Philippines, India, the United States, New Zealand, St Francis Xavier Cathedral young choristers and the Midwest Community Fusion Belly Dancers.

“This year’s exciting line-up also introduces fresh talent to the stage, including two Aboriginal Australian performers honouring their traditional lands, two sisters sharing a Venezuelan story through dance, and a special performance from the Centacare Men’s Hub.”

After the concert, guests are invited to stick around and continue the cultural journey by enjoying tastes of the world, with a variety of international cuisines on offer from local cultural stalls.

The association promises it will be an afternoon “to see the sights, hear the sounds of the world, make new friends — with no passport needed”.

The Midwest Multicultural Association multicultural concert is supported by the Inner Wheel Club of Geraldton and City of Greater Geraldton.

Doors open at 1pm ahead of a 2pm performance.

A hearing loop is available for patrons and can be requested when booking tickets at the civic centre or online via the city’s website.
