Trifon Christopher Benatar: Geraldton man facing child exploitation material charges has bail extended

A Sunset Beach man guilty of possessing child exploitation material and facing a string of other charges — including allegations involving a child sex doll — has had his bail extended. Trifon Christopher Benatar, 60, is facing 13 charges of possessing a child-like sex doll and child exploitation material. On February 2, 2025, Benatar pleaded guilty to one charge of possession of child exploitation material after he was charged on December 11, 2024. Benatar has not entered any pleas for the 13 offences of possessing a child-like sex doll. Appearing in Geraldton Magistrates Court in person on Monday, accompanied by his lawyer Rachel Porter via video link, Benatar ‘s bail was extended. Ms Porter requested the matter to be adjourned based on ongoing negotiations taking place in the background. Previously, the court was told Benatar had been in possession of category one child exploitation material at his Sunset Beach home. Benatar is required to reappear in court on Thursday, April 30, on the 13 child-like sex doll charges. He is also due to be sentenced on the child exploitation material possession charge in the District Court on June 8.
