St Patrick’s Primary School reveals new monkey bar playground

A new addition to primary education in Katanning was unveiled at St Patrick’s School to a crowd of excited students last month.

The school’s monkey bar playground was officially opened on May 28, marking the launch of a “great addition to our play space”, according to St Patrick’s principal Brett Wilkie.

“The new equipment has been immensely popular with students of all ages, with typically at least a dozen students engaging with the equipment at any particular time,” he said.

The new play equip-ment is made of Austra-lian stainless steel and supplements the exist-ing playground at the school.

Mr Wilkie said the monkey bar playground would make the school’s environment more appealing to families.

“We also try to provide play equipment that will engage children, facilitate creative and active play, and develop in our students their balance, strength, flexibility and motor skills,” he said,

St Patrick’s Parents and Friends Association was a key player behind the new playground by planning and raising funds for the project since mid-2020.

“We are very fortunate to have so many generous parents who have devoted time and P&F funds to this project,” Mr Wilkie said.

“We thank them for their commitment to making St Patrick’s the best school it can be.”

Mr Wilkie also made special mention of the CBH Group for its support of the project.
