90th Waroona Show breaks attendance record with more than 24,000 people

The 90th Waroona Show was one for the ages on Saturday. After being cancelled last year due to COVID, this year’s show broke the attendance record with more than 24,000 people making their way to the event. Show president Nick McLarty said he was thrilled with how the event was received. “It was an absolutely sensational day, we are over the moon with the way it ran and the community spirit,” he said. “People were just happy we can do something. “The weather was absolutely perfect. “I don’t think it has ever shone so bright.” People were lined up for hundreds of metres along South Western Highway by 9am. Mr McLarty said he expected the turn out to be big, but was blown away by the amount of people who came to this year’s show. “All the events going on at the moment seem to be up 20-30 per cent in their patronage because of the climate,” he said. “A crowd of 24,000 is an exceptional number and has blown out what we thought we would get through the gates. “We knew it was going to be big, but it’s definitely a new record.” The show president said it was now time to focus on 2022. “We are stoked with the way the day turned out and are starting to get ready for next year,” he said.
