Alert issued for east Binningup

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services has issued a bushfire alert east of Binningup along Forrest Highway with Harvey bushfire volunteers on scene.

The fire was reported at 11.53am along the western side of Forrest Highway near Pead Road, south of the Myalup Roadhouse.

About 2ha has been burnt and the fire is believed to have started near the intersection of Forrest Highway and Taranto Road, Binningup.

Eight Harvey Bushfire Brigade volunteers are on site actively fighting the fire.

While the fire is not contained and moving east, the department alert advised there was no threat to lives or homes, however drivers are warned of smoke on the highway.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area, reduce speed and drive carefully due to the smoke.
