The Brunswick Lions Club has made its annual donation of $500 bursary cheques to students at four local schools: Brunswick Primary School; Hope Christian College, Roelands; St Michael’s School, Brunswick; and River Valley Primary School, Burekup.

The club has been providing the bursaries for the last 20 years, and because of increases in the cost of living, they have increased from $300 to $500.

Club secretary Mike Kelly said the bursary provided the recipients with funds to help with the cost of moving to their choice of secondary education, and the funds were allocated to their chosen schools.

“It’s all about helping our young in the community to progress in life – and that is most rewarding” he said.

This year’s recipients were Tana Brewer from Brunswick Primary School, who will attend Australind Senior High School; Preston Aitken from St Michael’s Primary School, who will move on to Bunbury Catholic College; Paige Brandt from River Valley Primary School, who will go to Bridgetown Senior High School; and Annabelle Brown from Hope Christian College, who will go to the senior college.
