Brunswick Junction Lions Club honours those who have served in armed forces with improvements to War Memorial
A community group is doing its part to honour Brunswick Junction residents who have served in conflict.
The Brunswick Junction Lions Club has completed upgrades to the limestone memorial wall at the Brunswick Junction War Memorial, adding additional space to acknowledge more residents who have served in the Australian armed forces.
Lions member Ron Arkwright said the project came about after Judy Talbot successful applied for a local government grant.
“It took four members — none of which were qualified stonemasons — a two day weekend to complete the project,” he said.
Mr Arkwright said it was not the only project the club was hoping to undertake at the Brunswick Junction War Memorial.
“The extension of the Memorial Wall rose garden is still a work in progress under the supervision of Lions Robert George and Fred Talbot,” he said.
