Brunswick rising tennis star
Budding Brunswick tennis player Alifaye Gidgup has served up a storm at the South West Zone Tennis Tournament this month.
Alifaye, 9, may be small, but she managed to whack her way into the Bunbury Carnival grand final to win the singles championship.
She was also playing in the under 12s division, playing against contestants who had a couple more years up their sleeves and still managed to take out first prize.
The Bunbury Carnival wasn’t the only title she has won recently. Alifaye also won the Busselton Junior Tour Doubles Championship in the under 10s division.
The Brunswick Junction Primary School student said she loves tennis and trains regularly.
“I play tennis all the time, it’s so much fun,” Alifaye said.
Brunswick Tennis Club president Julianne Hill said she was extremely proud of Alifaye and all the other young competitors.
Alifaye is training hard for the Brunswick Tennis Club local competition in March.
