A 20-year-old Collie man who said he was “not too sure” why he allegedly evaded police in Wokalup, was charged on July 13 in Harvey Magistrates Court. Police alleged he drove his blue Mitsubishi Magna through Wokalup at more than 100kmh in the 80kmh zone. Police said they turned on their lights and sirens and followed the vehicle as it turned down Hocart Road. He allegedly kept driving down Herbert Road before turning on to Government Road and Forestry Highway — where police aborted the chase. The accused pleaded guilty to failing to stop for police and said he was “sorry” and that it “would never happen again”. He was fined $300 and ordered to pay court costs.
