Harvey residents will not be feeling sleepy when comedy hypnotist Matt Hale’s show BONKERS! hits the Harvey Recreation and Cultural Centre stage for the first time this Saturday. The hour-long mind-bending show turns traditional hypnosis on its head, offering the audience a modern brand of “hypno-laughs”. Hale said he was a cliche-buster, taking the old-school mystery out of hypnosis with a guarantee of no swinging watches or chicken dances, and offering his audience an understanding of how hypnosis worked. I’ve created a hypnosis show with a party vibe — it’s a great way to let your guard down for an hour and fill your body with awesome endorphins.” Hale said regional towns were always part of his all-ages show’s tour and he could bring the same kind of “big show feel” to the smaller stages, with up to 20 audience members on stage at once. “The great thing is that I don’t necessarily have to be the funny one, I’m just basically making the funny things happen,” he said “There’s lots of really bizarre scenarios that get played out, and there’s just so many options for people to react in different ways.” BONKERS! was due to make its regional debut at the HRCC on Saturday but has since been postponed, with a later date to be announced soon.
