Residents from Preston Beach were in their element on Friday as they celebrated the official opening of their long-awaited community centre.

A line up of special guests included representatives from the Peel Development Commission, Alcoa and Lotterywest, alongside the Preston Beach Progress Association who were behind the project from day one.

Waroona shire councillor Noel Dew thanked the community for all of their support in helping the project come together.

“We have a wonderful and diverse group of people who have chosen to call Preston Beach home for many years,” Cr Dew said.

“Today was all thanks to the truly wonderful volunteering ethos that I believe underpins our community here.

“This wonderful facility is a testament to the hard work and perseverance over so many years which we have worked together as one to achieve an outstanding result.”

The Preston Beach Progress Association is looking forward to utilising the centre for a range of activities including yoga, dinner nights, crafts, private and corporate functions and more.
