Several community groups have been successful in Harvey Water’s latest sponsorship round.

The sponsorship was open to groups in Harvey, Waroona, Dardanup, Bunbury and Collie and provided two categories of funding, $500 and under and $2000 and under.

The smaller funding was aimed at schools and education based projects, voluntary organisations, sporting projects and environment and catchment care. Harvey Netball Association, Harvey Primary School, Yarloop Country Women’s Association, Harvey Community Radio and Waroona Golf Club were all successful.

The bigger amount of $2000 and under was aimed at community events that create economic benefits, sustainable environment initiatives and community infrastructure projects and was received by Waroona Junior Netball, Harvey Football Club, Leschenault Community Nursery and the annual show display at both Harvey and Waroona’s Agricultural Society.

Harvey Bulls Football Club president Michael Zappia said that with the growth of women’s football, the club was grateful to receive a helping hand.

“The Harvey Football Club plays an important role within the community by providing a place for young footballers – both female and male – to play football within the shire,” Mr Zappia said.

“This funding will go towards new female changerooms at the Harvey Recreational Centre which are extremely important facilities to have.”

A second round of funding will be available in September.
