Cookernup residents will be celebrating 125 years since the town was founded on Saturday.

The day’s festivities begin at 11am and the event will be officially opened at 12pm.

Live music will be provided by Lightning Jack, with face painting and a fire engine train for the kids.

Event-goers can test their cow-hand skills on a mechanical bucking bull, although the faint-of-heart may want to settle in for something more relaxed with a Devonshire tea.

The Cookernup Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade crew will be firing up the barbecues for a sausage sizzle.
