Cr Boylan from shire to state bid

A Harvey shire councillor is the newest Liberal candidate for the next State election. Cr Michelle Boylan has been selected to represent the Liberal Party in the seat of Murray-Wellington. However, if Cr Boylan is elected she would have to step down from her duties within the local government. She won the Liberal pre-selection for the seat ahead of former Murray-Wellington MLA Murray Cowper and will take on Robyn Clarke at the next State election. Cr Boylan, who began her career as a police officer, had not always intended to be a politician. The dedicated officer served for more than 13 years in the force and said she enjoyed helping the community. She was also stationed in Harvey and served within the South West area. “It was a great and challenging experience,” Cr Boylan said. “But in the end, I left to spend more time with my children.” She then went on to YouthCare where she worked in pastoral care to provide a safe environment for children, before landing a role in the local government with the Harvey Shire Council. She said she hoped to advocate for many things including families, agriculture and aged care. Forrest MHR Nola Marino said she was thrilled to have Cr Boylan in the Liberal team. “Michelle Boylan is a great candidate for the Liberal Party to run for the seat of Murray-Wellington,” Mrs Marino said. “The seat has a long history with the Liberal Party and should be a priority for next year’s State election.”
