Dance students bring home a swag of medals
Twenty dance students from the Bianca Panetta Academy of Dance took part in the Perth Dance Challenge from May 20 to 27, walking away with more than 45 awards.
The academy won 22 first place awards, 12 second place and 13 third place awards, as well as three high commendations.
10 dance schools from around the South West took part in the week-long competition.
The South West Italian Club hosted daily qualifying rounds of the competition with the winners of each heat progressing to the finals.
The championship finals were held on the main stage at the Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre.
“It was our best competition yet,” academy principal and choreographer Bianca Meese said.
“For two of our girls, it was their first ever solo performance.”
The academy as a whole won in the production section of the competition for the troupe dance set around the story of the Titanic.
“It was great to see all the dancers working as a team,” Ms Meese said.
“I’m impressed with the standard and how they have all improved.
“I am so extremely proud of all of them.”
