Harvey Shire Council is inviting business owners and employees to take part in an economic development workshop on May 20.

With local business the key focus for the sundowner workshop, the council is hoping the event will bring the community together to network and collaborate.

Feedback regarding the current business operating environment within the shire will be collected as well as future opportunities for growth and actionable strategies to help support growth.

Three key points will be covered at the event including business operation within the shire, future direction and the role of the council in supporting business.

Harvey shire president Tania Jackson said the event would be a great chance to get feedback from the community.

“We have had a group working on an economic development strategy for some time and that has helped us develop ideas and strategies that we think will be able to guide us with decisions and actions in the future.

“The sundowner will take the draft plan to the next level and help us respond to our local businesses in ways that perhaps we have not been doing.”

Ms Jackson encouraged businesses within the shire to come along and share their opinions and ideas.

“We hope that people from across our shire engage with one another as it will make for a more robust forum discussion and the outcome for a more responsive economic development strategy for the shire.”
