Gym junkies to be able to work out 24/7 as part of changes to Harvey Recreation and Cultural Centre operations

Harvey’s fitness fanatics will have one less excuse to not hit the gym, with the service now being provided in the town all day, every day. The Harvey Recreation and Cultural Centre will now provide 24 hour access to its gym after community feedback identified the service was required. Harvey Shire president Paul Gillett said the 24 hour gym was a fantastic addition to the Shire’s fitness offerings. “It is great to be able to offer our community the opportunity to achieve their fitness goals at a time that suits them,” he said. As part of the new service, all new and existing gym members will be inducted into the new process for the 24 hour gym and will be given a personal key fob to allow access. There have been upgrades made to the centre to provide a safe and user friendly experience for patrons, including the installation of accessible parking, increased lighting, new pathways and upgraded security systems. The HRCC officially launched the new service on Monday after a soft launch on October 4. The Shire of Harvey says the 24 hour gym is the culmination of years of planning and is in direct response to feedback from the broader community as well as gym members.
