Harvey-Benger Cricket Club rounded out their successful 2022/23 season with the annual Presentation Night on Saturday night.

More than 50 people, covering junior and senior players, family and friends, gathered at Harvey-Benger’s home facility The Boundary Room at the Harvey Recreation and Cultural Centre.

The night was a fantastic opportunity to reflect on a magnificent season for the club where the Year 8, Fourth Grade and Second Grade sides all finished on top of their respective ladders, with the Year 8 and Fourth Grade sides going on to win premierships.

Some of the notable award winners from the night included President’s Cup winner Cody Birch, Year 8 Cricketer of the Year Brady Oxford, Fourth Grade Cricketer of the Year Johnny Crognale and Second Grade Cricketer of the Year Matthew Chave.

The club finished the event by welcoming two special players into the illustrious Life Member group. Johnny Crognale and Murray Italiano, both long-time cricketers and friends, were honoured for their dedication and service to Harvey-Benger Cricket Club.

The pair regaled with tales of playing for the former Benger Cricket Club and Harvey Cricket Club prior to merger and joining the Bunbury Districts Cricket Association.

Both also captured with great emotion how important the club was to them, and the special bond they felt with the players they had shared the field with over the years.

Harvey-Benger now look forward to the 2023/24 season and the potential for more success next summer.
