Harvey-Benger Cricket Club recorded their first points of the season with a win over Leschenault Cricket Club in the BDCA second grade at the weekend. Harvey-Benger won the toss and were 2-23 early before Anton Fimmano (56) and Matt Chave (47) combined for a 60-run stand. Contributions from the home side’s middle order helped them post a competitive 6-200 after their 50 overs. Leschenault started strong in reply with Scott Langford (22 off 14) providing some clean hitting at the top before he was removed by Zak Italiano. Steven Hinchcliffe (48) and Daniel Standen (31) did their best to chip away at the target as wickets fell around them but the Green Caps were eventually bowled out for 168, with Matthew Chave again the pick of the bowlers as he took 4-22 off nine. Meanwhile in the Wyllie cup, Waroona have jumped up to second with an eight-wicket win over the Secret Harbour Dockers. Waroona opening bowler Jayden Derosa set the tone for the home side early, removing Dockers opener Hilton Hardman. Wickets continued to fall before some great bowling from Derosa and a wasteful runout saw the visitors lose 3-0. Secret Harbour staggered their way to being bowled out for 78 after 33.2 overs and Waroona showed no mercy with the run chase. Brandon Burt was sent in to open and finished with a run-a-ball 47 not out to see Waroona home at 2-79. Waroona are now four points behind ladder leaders South Mandurah.
