Harvey Bowling Club promoted in South West Bowling League after taking out men’s division three competition

The Harvey Bowling Club have been promoted in the South West Bowling League after taking out the men’s pennants Tuesday division three last week. Eight of Harvey’s best bowlers faced off against Bunbury on Tuesday afternoon at Eaton Bowling and Social Club where they went on to win the title by aggregate score. Harvey’s four-man teams won 25 to 13 and lost 20 to 16 respectively, meaning they took out the title with a total score of 41 to 33. Vice-president and member of the winning side Ross Thomson said the victory meant a lot to the team after some lean years in terms of success. “The boys were ecstatic, we don’t get into those finals very often for Harvey,” he said. “But we have some good players now and we are improving.” Next season is set to begin in October, with the Harvey side moving up to division two from division three. Mr Thomson said the side was already looking forward to competing in the higher grade. “We are certainly keen to keep everyone around,” he said. “After winning that we go up to a new section, so now we’re up against the big boys.”
