Harvey Bulls’ Peter Jones to remain as Ned Fimmano, Matt Templeton, Anthony Edwards and John Baggetta all go

There has been a mass coaching exodus at the Harvey Bulls, Harvey-Brunswick-Leschenault and Waroona as four of the five men in charge announced they will not be continuing next year. Harvey Bulls women’s coach Peter Jones is the only one who will remain as Ned Fimmano, Matt Templeton, Anthony Edwards and John Baggetta all step down from their roles at their respective clubs. Bulls’ league coach Fimmano, who took the reins from Alan Douglas in round 11 after he was forced to step down for health reasons, told the Harvey-Waroona Reporter he would not continue in 2022. Fimmano coached the club to Peel Football League premiership success in 2004 and 2005 but said he found this season hard due to injuries. “It was just challenging . . . being a small community town, you haven’t got a lot of locals,” Fimmano said. “So if you get injuries to quality local players, all of a sudden your depth is decimated. “I love the club and I would do whatever I can to help and support, but it didn’t help when we lost key players. It is just frustrating because we want success, so we have to build our local base.” Harvey-Brunswick-Leschenault women’s coach Anthony Edwards will not coach on in 2022 to give his daughter more freedom to develop. “My daughter plays in the team and it is hard letting her have her space . . . as a coach you are always there,” Edwards said. “I always was basically in a one-year situation, I have been involved for three years with the team as a runner and assistant. “I loved it and am hoping to still be there next year as a runner and assistant coach.” It was reported earlier this month John Baggetta and the HBL Lions would “mutually part ways”. Harvey Bulls women’s coach Peter Jones is the only coach staying on and said he was excited about the future of his side. Meanwhile in the Peel Football Netball League, Waroona coach Matt Templeton will no longer be involved at the Demons after taking over as coach of East Fremantle’s WAFLW team. The former HBL coach said the opportunity to coach at WAFLW level was one he could not refuse. “It’s just a change, I will still be involved at Waroona in some capacity,” he said. “It is a significant step up, I am looking forward to trying a new pathway in the women’s WAFL.”
