Harvey Bulls women keep season ticking along with 69-point win against Eaton

Harvey Bulls put up another dominant display as they strolled past Eaton 10.15 (75) to 1.0 (6) at Harvey Oval on Sunday. The Bulls have been in imperious form so far this season and their 69-point win was more of the same. The home side got off to a fast start, scoring the first three goals and five behinds before the Boomers responded with the last score of the quarter from Courtney Collard to put the margin at 17. The goal would be the only score Eaton could muster for the game. The Bulls flexed their muscles in the second quarter with another three goals to take a 6.8 (44) to 1.0 (6) lead into the main break. There was no stopping the momentum after half-time as Harvey kicked another three majors, and one more in the fourth, to finish the game 69-point victors. Megan Minton was the game’s top scorer with three goals while Trinity Brown and Emma Faulkner both scored two. The win maintains the Bulls’ place at the top of the table on 52 points, two wins ahead of second-placed Busselton and three clear of both Bunbury and South Bunbury. Eaton sit eighth on the ladder with only two wins. The weekend did not pan out as well for the Bulls’ cross-shire rivals Harvey-Brunswick-Leschenault, as they were outclassed by Busselton 7.5 (47) to 1.0 (6) at Sir Stewart Bovell Park on Saturday. HBL were unable to get on the scoreboard until the third quarter as the Magpies kicked three straight in the first term, adding two more in the second. Busselton had a 32-point lead at half-time, with HBL captain Lauren Patane scoring the team’s only goal of the game. With a lead of more than five goals, Busselton managed to bag one more in the final quarter, stretching the margin to 41 points at the final siren. Busselton now rise to second on the ladder with 44 points and a game in-hand over the Bulls. The result puts HBL in seventh on the ladder with 20 points, two wins away from a finals position, but their percentage of 59 remains a concern.
