A pair of not-for-profits are working together to help people in need this holiday season, providing emergency relief, financial assistance and information to those less fortunate. Harvey Family Support Service and St Vincent de Paul Harvey branch have collaborated for the second time after discovering an increased need for community donations. The two organisations are seeking donations for hampers from Harvey, Brunswick, Yarloop and Cookernup residents. With provisions including non-perishable goods and Christmas related items, the hampers are provided to community members in need. St Vincent de Paul volunteer Leanne Promk said the organisation had spread its wings this year due to the increased need. “Our St Vincent de Paul society has been running in Harvey for the last 15 years and we have always done the Christmas hampers,” she said. Both HFSS and St Vincent have asked businesses to show support through donation bins on their premises or cash donations. Donation bins can be found at Super IGA and the Harvey Cultural and Recreation Centre.
