LETTER TO THE EDITOR

My family lives in Cooma, NSW, where the Harvey Hay Run trucks arrived on Wednesday, 22 January.
I've seen footage of the trucks rolling into town, flying Australian flags and bearing giant postcards with kind wishes scribbled upon them by the WA donors of hay and other goods. I'm told there was not a dry eye to be seen.
Having been in Cooma myself just a couple of days before the trucks arrived, I saw the utter desolation of the countryside, caused by severe drought and fires. The desperate plight of farmers in the region was clear.
The generosity and kindness of all the South West donors, and also of the drivers and organisers, deserves to be acknowledged. I know the people of Cooma and the NSW south coast are tremendously grateful.
A very big thankyou to everyone involved.
