A 26-year-old Hilbert man who was caught speeding in Wokalup with a suspended licence said his speedometer was broken and his foot slipped down. Police said they clocked the man doing 136kmh in a 110kmh zone on Mornington Road in Wokalup when he was not authorised to drive. The accused pleaded guilty to both charges and said his car travelled 10kmh faster than his speedometer read. “My foot slips down and I’m way over the limit,” he said. He also said he “missed his loved ones after COVID-19 restrictions lifted” and wanted to visit them. He was fined $600 with costs.
