The Shire of Waroona has called for nominations to join its grants advisory body.

Applications are now open for a community representative position on the Alcoa Waroona Sustainability Fund Advisory Committee.

The committee has two Shire of Waroona representatives, two from Alcoa and two from the Waroona community.

It makes recommendations to the council on two funds vested in the Shire: the Alcoa Waroona Sustainability Fund and the Alcoa Waroona Micro Grant Fund.

The Sustainability Fund deals will grant applications between $10,000 and $50,000, while the Micro Grant Fund covers applications of less than $2000.

The committee meets two to three times a year.

The Shire says applicants need to be aware they may be called upon from time-to-time to make difficult decisions when it comes to analysing projects and making recommendations for funding.

Applications for the position close at 4pm on November 2. More information on the position can be found at waroona.wa.gov.au
