Premier Roger Cook makes first visits to Harvey and Waroona since taking top job as part of South West tour

Harvey locals have had a chance to meet WA’s new Premier as he made his first visit to the South West since gaining the top job. Roger Cook stopped by Cafe on Uduc on Wednesday as part of a tour of the region, with many of the town’s business and community leaders turning out.. Mr Cook also briefly stopped by Cafe Waroona and looked over construction works at the neighbouring Waroona Community Precinct. Mr Cook said it was “always an absolute pleasure to visit the South West.” “I’m proud to lead a Government that delivers for regional WA. Our strong financial management means we’ve been able to allocate a record investment into regional infrastructure, while tackling the issues that matter to regional Western Australians,” he said. “We’ll keep our focus on strengthening regional healthcare, improving regional roads, upgrading regional schools, boosting regional housing supply, and delivering cost-of-living relief for regional residents. “As our economy transitions to a green energy future, the South West will be front and centre of the new job opportunities of the future. “Whether it’s renewable energy projects, large-scale battery energy systems, critical minerals projects or advanced manufacturing, we want to ensure the South West continues to play a major role in our State’s economic strength.” Mr Cook said it had been “fantastic to spend the day” visiting Harvey, Waroona, Pinjarra, Collie and Bunbury. “Robyn Clarke is a passionate local member, and was particularly keen for me to catch up with her local communities in Harvey and Waroona,” he said . “Thanks to the dozens of Harvey residents that welcomed me to their town, and a shout out to the team at Café on Uduc for the coffee. “The Waroona town centre revitalisation is powering ahead. Our Government has delivered more than $3.7 million towards the project, which will transform the precinct for visitors and local residents. “I look forward to getting back out to the region in coming months.”
