The friendly face at the Yarloop Post Office has decided to hang up his hat after more than a decade of service to the town.

Ron Sackville will be moving on and has put his property on the market.

The post office was the only business in the main street to survive the fires in 2016 and is the hub of the small town today.

Mr Sackville said he was retiring because of his age but vowed not to forget the memories he made in Yarloop.

“It is just a really nice place,” Mr Sackville said.

“It is close to everything, the community is great and I have really enjoyed my time here.”

After arriving in Yarloop in 2005 to help a friend recover from a stroke, Mr Sackville then got a job managing the Yarloop Workshops and later bought the post office. He was heavily involved in the bowling club and fire brigade during his time in Yarloop.

The sale comes as a package deal with the post office, coffee shop, house and land all up for grabs.

Mr Sackville does not know where he will end up but said he could potentially move to Japan with his wife.
